INEC 2026 Recruitment: How to Apply Before July 27 Deadline

INEC is recruiting permanent staff on Grade Levels 07 to 12. Requirements, documents needed and how Isoko applicants can apply free before Monday 27 July 2026.

Deadline: Monday, 27 July 2026. The INEC application portal closes on Monday, so if you qualify, apply today. Do not leave it until the last hour, as the portal usually slows down badly close to a deadline.

Quick Answer

The Independent National Electoral Commission is recruiting permanent staff into entry level positions on Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12. Applications opened on Monday 20 July 2026 and close on Monday 27 July 2026.

You apply online only, through the official portal at https://recruitment.inecnigeria.org. Application is completely free. You must not be above 35 years of age, and you will need a Certificate of State of Origin signed by your Local Government Chairman or Secretary.

Why This Matters for Isoko

The Office of Rep. Pastor Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko, the member representing Isoko North and Isoko South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has issued a public notice encouraging qualified constituents to apply for this recruitment.

The notice urges eligible people from both local government areas to review the requirements carefully, apply only through the official INEC portal, and submit accurate information, noting that applications are free of charge.

One thing worth understanding clearly. This is recruitment for permanent staff, which is different from the temporary ad hoc staff INEC hires around election periods. These are proper federal civil service positions with Grade Levels attached, not election day work.

Positions Available

CategoryGrade LevelMinimum Qualification
Professional Cadre (Lawyers, Clinical Officers, IT Officers, Engineers, Accountants and others)09, 10 and 12Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree in the relevant field
Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer)08Bachelor’s degree or HND
Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer)07NCE or equivalent

If you hold an NCE, pay attention to the third category. It is the entry point that most people overlook, and it opens the door into permanent federal employment.

Requirements by Category

A. Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12)

  • A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, plus a Master’s degree in the relevant field of specialisation from a government recognised institution
  • Relevant professional certification where it applies, such as NBA, MDCN, COREN, NSE, ICAN, ANAN or CPN
  • NYSC discharge certificate, certificate of exemption or letter of exclusion
  • Demonstrable practical knowledge and competence in your field
  • Analytical, communication and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with computer applications and digital tools

B. Administrative Officer II, Registration Area Officer (Grade Level 08)

  • A Bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences from a recognised institution
  • NYSC discharge certificate, certificate of exemption or letter of exclusion
  • Good knowledge of data management and record keeping
  • Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant ICT tools

C. Executive Officer, Assistant Registration Area Officer (Grade Level 07)

  • A National Certificate in Education or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
  • Basic knowledge of computer operations and data handling
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively under supervision within assigned Registration Areas

General Requirements for Everyone

Whichever category you apply for, you must also meet all of these:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen by birth or descent
  • Present a valid Certificate of State of Origin signed by the Chairman or Secretary of your Local Government. Certificates endorsed by Liaison Officers will not be accepted
  • Be computer literate
  • Be certified by a Government Medical Officer as physically and mentally fit
  • Not be above 35 years of age at the point of application
  • Be of good character with no criminal conviction
  • Be willing to serve in any part of the Federation where you are posted
  • Possess integrity, discipline and commitment to public service

Important note on the Certificate of State of Origin

Read that requirement again, because it catches people out. INEC will not accept a certificate endorsed by a Liaison Officer. It must carry the signature of your Local Government Chairman or Secretary.

If you are from Isoko and you do not already have one, that means a trip to the Isoko North secretariat in Ozoro or the Isoko South secretariat in Oleh. With the portal closing on Monday and secretariats closed over the weekend, Monday morning is realistically your only window. Plan for it now.

Documents to Prepare

Scan these and save them on your phone before you start, because the portal will ask you to upload as you go:

  • Recent passport photograph
  • Birth certificate or declaration of age
  • O’Level result
  • Your degree, HND, ND or NCE certificate
  • Local government identification or Certificate of State of Origin
  • NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate where it applies
  • Your 11 digit National Identification Number

How to Apply, Step by Step

  1. Go to the official portal at https://recruitment.inecnigeria.org
  2. Create an applicant account using your personal details, email address, phone number and NIN. You will also enter your state of origin, local government area and state of residence
  3. Verify your email address, then sign in
  4. Click the “Vacancies” tab on the homepage
  5. Select the cadre that matches your qualification, and take your time here
  6. Complete the application form
  7. Upload all required credentials
  8. Submit your application online

One detail that trips people up. Once you select a vacancy, you cannot change it. So decide carefully before you click, rather than rushing to beat the queue.

Warnings You Must Take Seriously

  • The application is completely free. INEC has repeatedly warned applicants not to pay anybody, whether an agent, a “connection man” or anyone else, for a form or a slot
  • Apply only through the official portal. INEC does not accept applications by email, at physical offices, through recruitment agents, or on third party websites
  • Do not submit more than one application. Multiple applications by the same candidate lead to automatic disqualification
  • Do not falsify anything. False information or forged documents will result in disqualification and possible prosecution
  • You cannot upgrade later. Candidates are assessed strictly on the credentials submitted during this process, and no upgrading of qualifications will be entertained afterwards
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next stage, through the details you provide during registration
